More iPad painting today. Several of my favorite art mentore point out the value of copying and tracing as learning tools. I find it terribly fun to download an image, trace the outline on another layer, delete the original and then just have my way with it! This Mona Lisa was done in about an hour on my iPad using an old version of the program Brushes.

I wish my art students would listen when I tell them about tracing, they all think it’s just cheating, but really it teaches you a lot about what you are tracing and gets your hand and brain engaged together. This is a great example. You learnt a lot about the mona lisa by actually tracing it! Great!
