The First Follower

I get two big lessons from this.

First, if you are going to be a leader, you need to BE EASY TO FOLLOW. If what you are doing is too difficult or complicated, it will be too hard for folks to understand you and join in! Be clear, be simple, be repetitive, and persevere.

Second, there is no movement without the FIRST follower. People are more likely to join in when there is already someone else following. This is another kind of leadership – leadership by following.
