AEDM Day 20: Doodles on a Plane

By: Eris Weaver | Date: November 20, 2015 | Categories: Art, Play, and Creativity

iPad fingerpaint doodling occupied my time on this morning’s flight. Much easier than juggling paper and pens on my tiny seatback tray. I like the black and white version best.

This piece was all about trying to figure out a particular digital challenge. I had in my memory an old Yoga Journal cover in which a photograph kind of merged into a hand-drawing, and I wanted to play with re-creating the effect. So I recycled this image from the other day and played around with […]

Today I played with Lisa DeYoung’s Daily Musings Journal format. It is similar to the tiny sketchbook journal that I kept on my European adventure last summer. I’m feeling cruddy this evening, and the small size of each block is an easy, non-intimidating space where I can fulfill my daily art assignment without it taking […]

I’m VERY happy with how this card came out…although it is completely inappropriate for its originally intended use as a Thanksgiving card to send my clients!

Trying to put together a Thanksgiving card and having a hard time settling on an image – have doodled some text, cut out some magazine images for a collage that never came together, then got captivated by the Sufi dancer image. We’ll see what evolves tomorrow.

AEDM Day 11: Volcano Goddess

By: Eris Weaver | Date: November 11, 2015 | Categories: Art, Play, and Creativity

Had so much fun yesterday that I repeated the process today. This little piece is 3″ by 3″. Can’t decide if she is a volcano goddess or one of those long-haired troll dolls from my childhood.

Today I read through several days worth of Leah’s Art Every Day Month Survival Guide, and combined several prompts into today’s art session: 1. Finish, or recycle, abandoned pieces: I cut up old some inkblot portraits that I’d never been happy with so that they were completely unrecognizable. 2. Work small: These are all 3″ […]

iPad fingerpaintings, playing with textures

Our annual women’s retreat at the coast allows lots of time for drawing, and interesting things to look at. The inspiration for these doodles: the decor of our rental house; a driftwood sculture; beach boulders full of holes.
