Chillin’ at the coast with my girlfriends on our annual women’s retreat. Pitt artist pens.
Awhile back, my pal Gina turned me on to the work of Portland, Oregon artist Gary Hirsch, the creator of JoyBots – “A tiny (and sometimes giant) robot army programmed to bring you joy.” Hirsch’s bots are tiny talismans painted on the back of dominos. They can be left in random places for people […]
On my long runs, I see lots of interesting objects on the trail or side of the road, and I wonder about the stories behind them. I save a list of them in my head with the intention of drawing them when I get home, but I never do. I also contemplate writing a […]

I was planning to go to a Día de los Muertos celebration with some friends today, and was thinking about my dear grandmother Nellie who died a few months ago as I doodled this calavera. […]
This bighorn sheep sculpture lives in the lobby of Desert Medical Center in Palm Springs, where my wife’s aunt died on Thursday evening. Driving home from the desert yesterday, I saw FOUR live sheep climbing a hill next to the highway. Having this AEDM project kept me sane during the days spent with a house […]
We had Thanksgiving dinner today, two days after Auntie B’s death. It is hard to find/make time for anything that feels like art under the circumstances, but there’s always paper around for random doodling.
Desperate to get out of the hospial for awhile, we went for coffee and found a lovely courtyard in between several shops and restaurants. Leslie finished charting yesterday’s patients while I sketched this rusty metal sculpture of Don Quixote.
Our plans for a mellow Thanksgiving at home were dashed by a family emergency requiring travel across the state. So instead of finishing the autumn leaf-themed cards I’d planned for my guests, I am drawing my fellow airplane travelers.
