blind contour drawing | colored on iPad | watercolor |
There’s something I just love about blind contour drawing. It is the perfect marriage between controlling and letting go. My eyes travel so slowly and meticulously along the edges of my subject, my pen following right behind: a very controlled process. At the same time, I let go of the controlling the result – perspective gets lost, body parts grow and shrink, yet somehow the final picture captures more of the subject’s essence.
(Leslie mostly likes the piece, except for the Jay Leno chin.)
I always find contour drawing challenging…yet like you said so rewarding! I love this post!
Love the Jay Leno chin! and the watercolor sketch.
